| Fukaku sighed, trying to recal why he came here. "Why indeed..." Fukaku thought to himself. The reason for his sudden exodus was to learn from some quincy masters, of which a few in the world did not congregate in karakura, and see if he could learn something from them. Was that really the reason Fukaku was leaving, though? Fukaku just sighed and continued, trying to track down the first master he was supposed to meet. "Bagu Otoku is next, it seems..." Fukaku muttered to himself. | |

| What was Ajiro offering to him? A lieutenant's position... lieutenant in what? He had no idea of Ajiro's goals, his motives... He was arguably the most stable being in Fukaku's life, and yet he knew nothing about him. Fukaku resolved to figure out more later. "Let's see... Bagu Otoku... master of the Flugeln Kafer..." As an ancient, Fukaku was charged with gaining knowledge to teach the next generation, and the ancient technique of Flugeln Kafer was one he wished to learn from this master. According to legend, the Flugeln kafer was a technique which created silver beetles to attack an opponent, before exploding, latched onto the opponent. Bagu Otoku was the last keeper of this knowledge, and Fukaku aimed to give it back to the quincy community. | |

| Walking through a nearby slum, he neared the ancient quincy's address. "Bagu Otoku really lives here?" Fukaku asks to himself, dismayed. the "house" seemed to be between two alleyways, behind a little red door. the alley was filled with grime and mud, and Fukaku was glad he could hirenkyaku over the mud now the rain was coming down so hard. Coming up to the door, a thick, metal, red door, he used the doorknocker. "Go away! I'm busy!" He heard a raspy voice from inside say. | |

| "Nayamasa Fukaku, I'm here to-" Fukaku stammered, a bit taken aback. "I said go away!" "I need to talk to you about-" "I said get the hell out of here, you frickin' debt collector" "I'm not a debt-" "I'm getting my gun!" "I don't care! I swear on the pride of the quincy that I'm not moving from this spot!" Fukaku finally yells, losing patience. A long silence falls, and Fukaku, sighing, prepares to leave. "By god, are you about to renege on the pride of the quincy?" he hears the voice say behind him. Turning, he sees a little old man, wrinkled with the pock marks of age, say this behind him. "Well, come in - I may not like company, but it's better than seeing a quincy renege on his pride." The man says, grumbling. | |

| "YOU'RE an ancient?" The old man says, laughing "Ahehehe... Ahaha..." The old man continues laughing. "what's so funny?" Fukaku asks irritably. "What's funny is that I just saw a young, half-cocked young man out there, who can't even commit to his pride." The old man said, puffing his pipe. "I was sitting there for four hours! What was I supposed to do, wait forever!" "If that's what your quincy pride demands..." The old man says, before going into a coughing fit. "A quincy's pride represents his conviction, his determination, the determination of our clan! Every time you swear on your quincy pride and renege on it like that, you insult that clan!" the old man rages, spittle coming from his mouth. "I didn't come here to be lectured like a child!" Fukaku roars in kind. "I came here to learn your technique so it's not lost forever!" Fukaku retaliated as he did less out of true anger, but shame. He knew very well the man was correct, and inside himself, he thought of his other vows. "I promised to revenge myself on the shinigami for you, father..." Fukaku thought to himself "On the pride of the quincy...". Was that, too, merely foolish prattle? Fukaku thought to himself. | |

| The old man simply glared at him. "If you can't understand quincy pride, then I'm certainly not teaching you Flugeln Kafer! I won't turn blood away, and you can stay here as long as you like, but until I see your attitude adjust, I ain't showing youuu squat!" Bagu says, sitting down. "you can have the guest room, if you'd like." "By the pride of the quincy, I'm not leaving here until you teach me Flugeln Kafer!" Fukaku says, his temper hot, without fully realizing what he said. "...Oh, really?" Bagu grins. "In that case, stay as long as you want..." He says, laughing. "Or as long as the pride of the quincy compels you to..." "What do you mean, old man..." Fukaku says, beginning to realize what he just got himself into. "Well, see, I can't have you insulting our pride again on my watch, so, until you learn Flugeln Kafer, I am not going to let you leave the city." Bagu says, his silvery aura flaring. "By force, if necessary." "You can't possibly mean..." "Oh, so you were considering leaving." Bagu says, grinning. "In your town, you're an ancient, but I've never listened to the council's ruling anyways. Until I say otherwise, you're stuck here, got it?" Bagu flares his reishi for effect. "He has more than Koga... how?" | |

| "Now now, "Nayamasa-san", I think it's time to sleep, don't you?" The old man says, grinning. "I run a tight ship around here, and so long as you're staying, you get to help out with the jobs. Got it?" "Are you trying to make a point or just get someone to do your chores!" Fukaku responded, annoyed with this turn of events. It was supposed to be more simple than this... "This is ridiculous... I'm out of here." Fukaku said. "Sorry, there's a curfew, you can't leave after nine A.M here..." Bagu says, grinning, as a silvery aura appeared around the door. "Well, you made me do this..." Fukaku said, readying his bow. "Forward me the damages..." Fukaku nayamasa fired 500 arrows a second from his bow. called "heavy arrows" for a reason, it was as though he was firing five hundred sledge hammers instead. Any normal wall would have simply ceased to exist against such fearsome firepower And it was about as useful as wet moss against this wall "Oh, did I mention? I installed Reika silver in the walling here. Just blindly attacking won't get you anywhere." Bagu says "But I'm going to make you do double the chores in the morning instead of paying damages. How's that sound?" | |

| Fukaku just stammered, staring at the surroundings and realizing reika was in just about everything here. "I'm trapped..." Fukaku thinks to himself. "alright, let me out. Right now." Fukaku says, looking at the deceptively dimunitive quincy before him "Or I'll just wreck everything the old fashioned way." Fukaku threatened. "You're a thousand years too early to threaten my, boy!" Bagu said, raising his voice. "Now, get to your room, or stand out here, I don't care..." Fukaku went to punch a nearby vase as Bagu said this, before feeling a curious feeling on his head. Fukaku took only a split second to realize they felt like pincers. He didn't have enough time to tell of what, however, as a second later, he only felt blackness, as his consciousness faded. "Shit..." | |

| Fukaku woke up later in a small bedroom. looking to his right, he saw a small table with a note "If you want breakfast - too bad, I'm not running a motel. best be ready to go by eight thirty. either way, I'm waking your ass up and putting you to work by then" "Crazy old man!" Fukaku exclaimed, remembering the events of last night. "Ahhh..." Fukaku winced, feeling a swelling pain in his head. "Did he hit me with a baseball bat?" Fukaku wondered out loud. | |

| Fukaku looked around his room, getting up. It was furnished nicely enough, far more than he'd expect given the entrance of the home. Come to think of it, now he had time, Fukaku realized that everything in the house was far from dingy. It was a well furnished house, and if he remembered correctly, even had some tasteful paintings put up. the reika silver was hidden behind fine marble in the floowing as well. Why would a hovel on the outside be such an architectural masterpiece on the inside. "You ready?" Bagu asked, in the door. Fukaku didn't answer. "Well, if you won't answer me, that's fine, but you may wanna fix the attitude. otherwise, it's gonna be a loooong time before I teach you Flugeln Kafer." Bagu remarked, snorting at him. Fukaku just continued not to answer, but got up anyways, resisting the urge to strangle him. | |

| Bagu first handed him a very large glass of water. "Go drink that. Now." Bagu said, not even bothering to look at him. "I can't drink all this." Fukaku protested. "By the end of today, you'll forever regret it if you don't..." Bagu warned. Sighing, Fukaku drank about half the glass before setting it down. "I can drink no more." Fukaku said, shaking his head. Bagu simply shrugged. "Your loss..." "alright, for starters, my decor inside is a little bit shabby. I'm going to have you fix it." Bagu said, leading Fukaku into a green room. "But the decor outside, that's not a problem?" Fukaku asked. "You're here to work, not give opinions." Bagu retorted. "I want you to shape those bushes into the shape of a beetle." Bagu said, giving him a pair of scissors. "You've done trimmings before, right?" "n-" "Good! I'll see you in an hour. You should be done by then." Bagu said, smiling as he walked away. | |

| Fukaku works angrily, shaping the hedge into a ball shape... which resembled, at best, a diseased pumpkin. Bagu storms in, sweating bullets. "You finish-Ahahahahahaha! What is that thing?" Bagu says, laughing as he points to Fukaku's beetle. "I have no experience with this sort of thing, I-" Fukaku attempted to defend himself "Well you didn't need to tell me! That monstrosity told me already!" Bagu said, still laughing. "No worries, You'll fix it tomorrow..." Bagu said, his laughter dying down. "Tomorrow! Like hell, old-" "Come on! more chores..." Bagu said, holding another bucket of water. "grrrr..." | |

| Bagu had him come out to what seemed to be a back entrance to his home, which appeared directly out of the city, and into a nearby park. "I should have used this entrance..." Fukaku thought to himself, noting how nice it was in this part of the town. Looking to his left, he saw Bagu sitting on a nearby bench, a bucket of water on either side of him. "I already told you, I'm not thirsty." Fukaku said. "that last chore was hardly exerting..." Bagu grinned before continuing. | |

| "Oh, you seem to misunderstand. These buckets..." Bagu motioned to both of them, and Fukaku realized they were thrice the size of the bucket he saw earlier "Are for a good friend of mine nearby. You're going to carry them to their destination, and not spill a single drop. "Alright. Where does he live?" Fukaku asked. "About twenty miles north." Bagu said, his grin growing wider. "And if you spill a drop, we start over again." "This is ridiculous!" Fukaku said. "Hey, you're supposed to be hauling water, not angst. Now get to it!" Bagu retorted. | |
