Hikaru walked into the 1st divisions barracks area. She still had her tiny apartment but everyone goes to the barracks for training and other things. For now since she was so newly accepted she was put to work. Like many other shinigami they all went around continuously cleaning and doing chores. They weren't particularly difficult or annoying it was work. Hikaru understood the relevance of each job as well. By doing them to perfection they would assist in other areas. For instance washing the floor helped with leg strength and being able to move in different angles and so on. She did them with no complaints.
